The last day, and home again
The last day in Buenos Aires wasn't quite what we wanted, because we discovered too late that everything of interest is closed on the last day of the year. The museums we wanted to see, particularly MALBA, will have to be on the agenda for a return trip.
To fill the time we took a trip to Tigre, a river delta town just outside of BA. We had lunch, strolled along the river, shopped for local crafts, but declined the opportunity to take a boat ride through the delta because it was just too hot.
Then: back to the hotel for some last-minute swimming and off to the airport for the 16-hour journey home. The planes were full, proving that we weren't the only crazy people to travel through New Year's eve and day. We could have celebrated midnight five times on the flight, except that we choose to sleep instead.
It was a great trip!
